Thank you for being willing to help with this Scripture reading collaboration video.  We think it will be a ton of fun to work on this project together, and we’re praying that God will use it to encourage His people and garner worship for Himself on Resurrection Sunday!  The finished project should look like something similar to these two example images where multiple faces will be seen simultaneously while we read Scripture together.  The more of us that participate, the more exciting the final result will be!

If you have questions or need help, please contact Pastor John Tracy.  Thanks again for being willing to participate.

PLEASE SCROLL DOWN.
There are instructions for three different recordings below:
#1-Church family readers;
#2-Pastors/Staff first recording;
#3-Pastors/Staff second recording

ALL VIDEOS MUST BE SUBMITTED, NO LATER THAN THURSDAY MORNING.

RECORDING #1:  Church Family Readers:

Each of you need to record your video vertically (not landscape).

When you record please:

  1. Stand in front of a white or light solid-colored wall.
  2. Hold your Bible in the recording and READ FROM THE ESV TRANSLATION.
  3. Position your body in approximately the same amount of space in the camera angle as what you see in John’s video.
  4. Make sure there are no other distracting noises around you.
  5. Speak clearly and emphatically.  Don’t be afraid to use hand motions or gestures if they are natural.

Your recorded passage of Scripture will be synced with several other readers in the church family so it’s VERY important that you read the passage at the same pace as John.  You will need two separate devices to accomplish this:

  1. Put on a pair of headphones or earbuds in at least one of your ears.
  2. Play the recording of John reading the passage on your device with your headphones and read along with John at the same pace.  You will probably need to practice it a couple times to get the hang of it.
  3. On a separate device (preferably a phone held vertically), record yourself reading.
  4. Don’t feel like every single word needs to be perfectly with John’s recording.  Imagine reading Scripture out loud in the midst of a congregation.  Every person wouldn’t be reading in precisely the same way, but they all would stay together with the lead reader.  The goal is for this video to have that same congregational effect when we sync multiple readers together.

(FYI… John announces the reference, “Matthew 28.” you do NOT need to do that.  Just start with the first phrase of the passage:  “Now after the Sabbath…”)

Passage for church family to read:

Matthew 28:1-6a (ESV):

1 Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. 4 And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. 5 But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. 7a Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead.

RECORDING #2:  Pastors/Staff:

Each of you need to record your first video in “landscape mode” (see John’s sample picture). In other words, position your phone to record wide horizontal view instead of vertical.

Passage to read:

Godly:  Matthew 27:32-36

Mike G:  Matthew 27:37-40

Anthony:  Matthew 27:27-29

Todd:  Matthew 27:30-31

Michael A:  Matthew 27:41-44

RECORDING #3:  Pastors/Staff:

Your second video needs to be recorded VERTICALLY instead of horizontally.  See John’s vertical example picture.  Also, step in a little closer in the frame to match what you see in John’s.

This second passage of Scripture will be synced with the other 5 readers so it’s important that you read the passage at the same pace as John.

Passage for staff/pastors to read together:

Matthew 27:45-54 (ESV):

45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour. 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” 47 And some of the bystanders, hearing it, said, “This man is calling Elijah.” 48 And one of them at once ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine, and put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink. 49 But the others said, “Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to save him.” 50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit. 51 And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split. 52 The tombs also were opened. And many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised, 53 and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many. 54 When the centurion and those who were with him, keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were filled with awe and said, “Truly this was the Son of God!”
